The Story of YME Mission
The story behind YME Mission began on December 18, 2018, after a routine visit to the doctor’s office for what I thought was only a hernia. After several medical tests, I received the call that no one wants…” Mr. Bowers, the test results show that the tumor on your colon is cancerous but in the early stages.” On February 7, 2019, I had the first of three surgeries over the ensuing four months.

Fortunately, the medical team was able to get the entire tumor out, and it did not spread. As a result, I did not have to go through radiation or chemotherapy. Over the following months, I had the hernia repaired and the colon resection surgery. I prayed that I was on the road to recovery and so far, the tumor has not returned. I recall my doctor stating, “The hernia possibly saved your life...had the tumor spread to your liver, we would be having a different conversation.” That was a chilling thought to know that finding a simple hernia could have saved my life.
From the initial conversation with the doctor until today, I have repeatedly asked one question that I have no answer. Why me?
Why was I so blessed to have a hernia that led to the discovery of a golf ball sized tumor? Why did I not have to go through the dreaded chemotherapy and radiation? And the most profound question of all, why did I survive and so many do not? Why me? I have told so many people that I had the best of a bad situation.

Once I was medically cleared in late 2019, I knew that I could not go forward in life without using this experience to positively impact others. With no idea what would be the answer, I prayed fervently that God would lead me in a direction to use my experience to do His will and to be a blessing to others. Gig Line Apparel is a direct result of those prayers, and I feel that God has now provided me the opportunity to support veterans, first responders and their families in their time of need. Please help us support those who have dedicated their lives to serve, protect, and fight for our country.
